After a long time of very blurry and annoying MASTCAM shots my friend Ron pointed this out to me today.  Although it is a little blurry when you blow it up the anomalies that are shown within this image and video are absolutely amazing.  I have not seen such a perfectly shaped stone in a long time from the Curiosity Rover images.   The new images have been so bad many anomaly hunters have started going back though he old images again to find things that we have missed along the way.   This is by far one of my new favorites and I will surely be talking about this image and others when I am on my October 2nd Friday night appearance on Richard C. Hoagland's Other Side Of Midnight show.  We are doing the whole second hour on some of the new anomalies that are just amazing.  This surely fits the bill.  Let me know what you are thinking!  Don't forget to download this one for your collection as well as the enhanced images!

Most of the time, when I'm looking at pictures of Mars, I'm not 'looking for anomalies' per se, I'm just looking to see what I can see. Some of you may have noticed that NASA/JPL/MSSS doesn't always release all of the images taken on any given SOL; some will be released on one day and then, days or weeks later, more images for that particular SOL will be released.

Dilapidated Ruins On Mars Imaged By NASA's Curiosity Rover 2015

After viewing some of my latest Mars videos with the high quality MAHLI Camera image shots this one may seem very blurry to you.  THEY ARE REALLY REALLY REALLY BLURRY.  Why all of a sudden is the MASTCAM having such issues?  Maybe because they have hit jackpot where they are.  There is not much I could do to clean this one up but neverless what lies in the image is still totally amazing and noteworthy.  Check out the structures just sitting at the the bottom of Mount Sharp.  Could they be anymore in your face?  I imagine this is why they are in such bad quality.  I think NASA should start pointing the MAHLI Camera at these places to give us a much better resolution image.  Going to happen?  NO WAY!  There is way to much good stuff sitting here.

Description:

SOL 1100 although a blurry mess has given us a nice view of the what look like structures and old ruins sitting within striking distance of the Curiosity Rover.   Hopefully NASA / JPL plan to roll the rover on up that hill and start really collecting some better images.  This image has all the tell tale signs of being either deliberately destroyed with JPG artifacts or manipulated manually or automatically to hide something that was on the image.  As always I give you the link and let you decide for yourself!

Description:

This image is a very blurry one from the MASTCAM but it is of the spot on Mars that I have been dying for the Curiosity Rover to head towards.  I am hoping that we get some newer and much more clearer images here in the near future!   Either way it feels good to be back making videos from my two week hiadus and many more to come!   Much love to you all!

SOL 1077 - A Question for The Community

So I'm going thru my backlog of images I need to eyeball and decide to stitch a 'panorama' of a rock imaged by the Right MastCam on SOL 1077. Using 8 images (1077MR0047370010600161E01_DXXX-1077MR0047370080600168E01_DXXX), I zoomed-in really tight to check how smoothly the edges were joined and noticed a row of 5 dots in the sand next to the rock.

The dots turned out to be holes in the sand.

My first thought was that they were made by one of the sensors on Curiosity's robotic arm, but after much digging around I can't find any image that shows such a row of studs/rods on the robotic arm that could cause this all-but perfectly straight holes.

My question then is does anyone know of any intrument on the robotic arm that could leave this mark in the sand?
