IT IS A SHAME, BUT I'M AFRAID THIS BADLY DAMAGED WHEEL WILL EVENTUALLY COME APART AND MAY PUT THE ROVER OUT-OF-ACTION. I OFTEN LOOK AT THE WHEELS AND IT IS STRANGE HOW GOOD SOME HAVE HELD UP WHILE OTHERS HAVE MANY HOLES THAT ARE NOW FRACTURING.

Yes, it seems very serious to me also. Curiosity may not have the kind of lifespan that was/is afforded to Spirit & Opportunity. It has been in that state for a while now, probably a shakier drive for the equipment.

Here is a pretty good article written by my go-to expert on the rovers, Emily Lakdawalla.

I don't think the damage has changed much since Sol 708. It concerns me that the root cause for the tears is from fatigue, which sounds kind of inevitable. Perhaps the workarounds will be enough to get it to the Mt. Sharp base. Hopefully, it doesn't get to Mt. Sharp and then collapse like the bluesmobile.

Thank you to everyone who has stuck by the YouTube channel and to all of our admins and forum users here on the channel.   They really have kept the website current while I have been busy taking care of things in my personal life.   I promised that the next video would be a long one and have a LOT to look at.  You can get lost in these Gigapans and I really hope that you do!  I spent a lot of time stitching these together and making sure that they were the best quality that I could get them.  SOL 1448 really has been a goldmine for anomaly hunters and those people who are just hobbiest.  I really hope you enjoy this one and expect much more to come from the latest batches of images!
