In collaboration with Researcher Emeritus Martine Grainey, MarsX3D is proud to offer a series of 3D realizations representing some of Ms. Grainey’s most compelling finds. These are her original renditions. Nothing has been changed, altered or added in any way other than to apply the process of planar extrapolation, rendering the image in X3D stereo.
Curiosity’s mastcam captured this strange object sitting on the edge of a crater. The perfect cube-like shape embedded in the rock defies explanation. What looks like a sullen eye peers out of a deep crevasse just below the cube. Is this somehow a living being? Why is the “pupil” visible inside the darkness of the crevasse? And what about that flawless cube embedded just above?
Clearly, the cube itself is not natural. Until we can examine these anomalies first-hand, we can only speculate in an attempt to assign meaning to something which simply shouldn’t be there!

“How do I do X3D?” Simple. While viewing the two images from a comfortable distance, very gently cross your eyes (no eye-strain) until you perceive three images. The one in the center is in 3D. Relax into it. Once you learn how to re-focus your eyes in this manner, you will never forget it.
