“EXCAVATIONS” in X3D Stereo
Opportunity Sols 952-953, gigapan by Neal Spence

Anomalist Neal Spence of Terraform Mars has a number of gigapans worth viewing!
In today’s item, our context imageis a segment of Oppy’s view of Victoria Crater from Duck Bay. Up there on the left in this view of the crater’s far side, right angles catch the eye and require a closer look.
Zooming in, our detail view shows what may well be purposeful excavations. On the left we see parallel rock walls of uniform thickness with right angles and equidistant from each other. Moving to the rightand on the top edge of the crater lies a large, white cylinder. Its end is covered and has a knob in the center. What is it?
Behind and stretching several hundred yards into the distance, it appears as if the overlaying sand has been excavated to reveal what may be foundations of an ancient building. It’s clear that the sand has been removed and that perfectly-rectangular foundations or walls have been exposed.
Back to the edge of the crater and to the right, a very suspicious-looking tangle of structures and walls may be additional ruins. Or perhaps just rocks, albeit very strange ones.
My personal belief is that there is ongoing archaeological work happening on Mars, if one believes that we colonized Mars back in the sixties. An outrageous statement to some, but a logical one once one takes the time to examine the documents, testimonies and photographic evidence that support this contention.

“SO, HOW DO I VIEW X3D STEREO?”
Simple! While viewing the stereo pair at a comfortable distance, gently cross your eyes (no eye-strain) until you perceive three images all the same width. The one in the center is in 3D. Just relax into it and your eyes will automatically bring it into focus. Once you have it, you will never forget how to do it. Kinda like riding a bicycle…
