The very latest bright light spotted on Mars in Gale Crater in the latest image set from the Curiosity Rover. Is it a UFO, a lens flare, reflective ground object, geo-thermal activity, a sensor glitch / hot pixel or something else?

This image was taken by the Rear Hazcam Right B just a few days ago - Sol 901 - Feb 17th 2015 and shows a bright light seemingly coming from the ground or possibly a bright object falling.

 

I personally think it may be a sign of geo-thermal activity or perhaps a piezoelectric discharge event similar to some seen on Earth in mountainous areas. 

The fact that NASA never investigate these things leaves them open to speculation. Swamp gas? Lol.

Mars 'UFO' Controversy Ignited By Curiosity Rover Images

 

NASA explanation: 

 

Are we looking at pictures of a UFO headed for a landing near the Curiosity rover? Probably not, says Justin Maki, leader of the team that built and operates Curiosity's navigation camera.

 

"In the thousands of images we've received from Curiosity, we see ones with bright spots nearly every week," Maki said in a NASA statement. "These can be caused by cosmic-ray hits or sunlight glinting from rock surfaces, as the most likely explanations."

 

Hot pixels, as described by PhotographyLife.com, occur when a camera's sensor becomes hot during long exposures.
