Does anyone know what the approximate size of this "snail' is...or how wide the "tracks" are?

I will look through Richard C Hoaglands emails from the imaging team over at OSOM. We have been talking about it but not sure if scale came up yet..

The cropped image is about 72km and 944 pixels wide, making it around 13.1 pixels per km. The object is around 50 pixels long, so I come up with about 3.8km in length.

Thanks for the close-up view. SO, I see that it IS a snail after all! LOL

Seriously though, before I go making up a new species and trying to somehow include the words “Pluto” and “giant” (“giantus”?) into its name, it looks to me like the Sun is in the 11:00 o’clock position and a dark shadow extends along the right from either the 2:30 or 3:00 o’clock position clockwise to the 5:30 position. Another narrow shadow appears to protrude to the lower right from about the 5:45 to the 6:00 position.

This indicates to me that the “head” of the snail (Can you see the two “eyes” as its head is turned around facing backward sporting two big round eyes and a bulbous nose?) is NOT casting a shadow, but is something almost flat and skewed to the upper left a bit.

‘Same with its “shell.” About an eight inch to the lower left of center is a white dot. This white dot is NOT casting a shadow. However, the black inverted letter ‘L’ abutting it to its upper right does appear to be casting a shadow, and this appears to be the sharpest protruding shadow in the 5:30 position.

Then there is a gap in the shadow, suggesting something flat, or low, corresponding to the white dot. Then the 1/8th inch black dot to the lower left of center appears to be elevated sharply and to be casting a shadow protruding to the lower right between the 5:45 and 6:00 o’clock position.

That’s what I see in this image. B)

Some "high octane speculation,” (with a hat tip to Dr. Joseph P. Farrell for the use of that phrase): Perhaps this is some kind of land-borne tugboat of sorts, used to transport the “flying cities” around the surface of Pluto to keep from having to fire up their “spindizzies.”
