I can find no way to explain this phenomenon, Almost looks like a fibrous material, like wicker, roots, shredded wheat, frayed carpeting, ???

I dunno’; I have seen pottery and rocks broken like this. Perhaps we are looking at the naturally broken surface of a rock with the rest of it buried. On the other hand, I have seen corrugated tin at construction sites, in use, and as junk and this looks like it could also be some kind of corrugated material, of Martian manufacture of course.

What if it is some kind of petrified scale off of a Martian fish, ichthyosaur, or plated land animal?

Good find!

For me, it is hard to tell on this one.

While it could very easily be a manufactured object, I try to think of other ways objects may be created too.

If it is not manufactured, then how could it have come about naturally? It could be a sort of collapsed geode that was blasted to there when Mars was devastated. Now that I look at it and let my imagination wander, I think it might also be part of a petrified tree root.

If it is manufactured, then it looks like some kind of endcap or crowning piece to me.
