The "skeleton" actually seems like part of the anomalous mineral vein, but it is an interesting feature. There are three images of that object taken by the MAHLI-cam on sol 1028. I processed the two most relevant frames for comparison below with enlargements. The images were processed from the PDS raw DRCL .img files.

No apology necessary, it's good to have a reason to go back and pull the raw .img files, just to follow up. I can't say I recommend Paranormal Crucible though, I think they do too much rendering on their Mars images and the alien videos they post seem dubious. :dry:

Thank you. Actually, I found that via Google/News/Science & I think it was in The Huffington Post. So I clicked through to the source link and it was Paranormal Crucible, which I had never been to before, and since it was dated July 12, 2016 so I posted it.

After poking around a little bit on Paranormal Crucible, I am NOT impressed by that site.

On revisiting this after a day, and thinking about it a little more, I realize that another reason that I posted it was that it actually does look somewhat like skeleton. At about 1:15, a comparison with terrestrial skeletons is displayed with several terrestrial bones identified in the Martian “skeleton.” This is what tipped my scale into the “POST” range.

While I am always reluctant to arrive at unwarranted conclusions, and I am aware that gradual geologic processes could easily account for this formation, I can NOT completely dismiss that this might be an actual Martian skeleton. Considering the cataclysm that I believe occurred on Mars, It could be just a coincidence that a skeleton wound up in a mineral vein, which itself may be the result of slow geologic processes or cataclysm.

So, I am going to remain uncommitted on this one until a machine or a man can, or does, take a closer look.

That is how Sagan felt, when talking about the Elysium pyramids, that they needed to be viewed closer. I suppose until then, this stuff will remain somewhat subjective. Who knows, maybe this is Paranormal Crucible's "broken clock" moment. :silly:
