file NASA - Unanswered questions about Curiosity-Images

Recently I took a closer view to some Curiosity-Images from SOL 1600 and SOL 1609. The one on SOL 1609 has only been as thumbnail until now, that means in a very little solution. The on on SOL 1600 inbetween has been released as "Mixed-Data-Product". Here the comparison between the thumbnail and the mixed data product is very amazing.

Both relevant images contain very intersting structures. You can recognize them by enlarging the number of pixels on 500, maximum 800 and brightening the images a little bit. After doing so, you can see structures, which in my eyes clearly look like big pipes with round openings, a carved triangle with straight lines on the left side and also straight structures with right angles which seem to be a part of a wall or a foundation etc.

Following you will find the links to the images on the jpl-website, after that the image in original size, followed by the enarged and marked versions.

As mentioned above the relevant image on SOL 1600 has recently been published as "Mixed data product" with a little better resolution. BUT.: If you compare the "Mixed-Data-Product"-Version with the thumbnail, you will see that

a) the really interesting structures of the Thumbnail-Version do not appear in the "Mixed-Data-Product"-Version.

and furthermore that

b) many elements of the "Mixed-Data-Product"-Version are not contained in the Thumbnail-Version.

To me this is very strange because the Thumbnail-Version has been published first so that there can´t rsp. shouldn´t be differences like that.

My tea is my tea. So what do you see ? ;) ;) ;)

Nr. 1 from SOL 1600:

I CAN NOT FIND THE MARKED AREAS / ELEMENTS IN THE MIXED DATA PRODUCT. My mistake (glasses not cleaned) or real?

And last, but not least, the image from SOL 1609, still not published in a bigger solution:

I think the thumbnails are too small to be comparative to any of the full size image details, just not enough there. I think they're only really useful for index purposes.

Replied by Joe Hartung on topic NASA - Unanswered questions about Curiosity-Images
Hi Todd,

thanks for your answer on my upper toppic. But in some parts I can not agree.

Inbetween the Thumbnail-Image from SOL 1609, that in my eyes is interesting, published under Number 800975, has been published as JPG under the equal number, BUT: not colorized; only black and white. AND: Compared to the thumbnail-version the black and white jpg-image is totally different. For example the clearly recognizable triangle and right-angle structures of the thumbnail do not anyhow appear in the JPG-Image. And for me this is definitely a clue to pretent, that the black and white JPG-Version has been "artificially" processed rsp. "photoshopped" by something rsp. someone.

Sincerly
Kind regards

Joe

The color version may not be available until the PDS release in a few months and then we can get a better look. Although the jpg thumbnail is too small and noisy, both images do appear generally the same to me.

Thank you to everyone who has stuck by the YouTube channel and to all of our admins and forum users here on the channel.   They really have kept the website current while I have been busy taking care of things in my personal life.   I promised that the next video would be a long one and have a LOT to look at.  You can get lost in these Gigapans and I really hope that you do!  I spent a lot of time stitching these together and making sure that they were the best quality that I could get them.  SOL 1448 really has been a goldmine for anomaly hunters and those people who are just hobbiest.  I really hope you enjoy this one and expect much more to come from the latest batches of images!
