This is my old post where I made quite a to of this set of images. And images from sol 533 really look like something is there. I've since backed off this conclusion because of the images from sol 535.

In the Sol 535 images the Rover gets closer and in the closer images the "screw" like filament is not evident. I've looked at these images for many hours trying to figure out what is going on. In the end I go with the image of sol 535 which is a closer image. I believe prolonged study of the images reveals the "screw" is the edge of a ridge of rock and the "screw" is an optical illusion. Originally I did a video promoting the idea there is a screw but deleted that once I decided it was misleading to keep it up on Youtube. It is true I could have made a greater effort to debunk my own original finding.

I think the lesson for this kind of research is always check to see if there is a better image available, be aware that even mid distance images can be misleading and lack sufficient resolution. As a result of this fail and a couple of others I have made I don't pay much attention to anything in the background of an image and I am wary of even mid distance detail.

hi RON. I have been straightened out on many of my postings so don't worry about this. at least we are trying! I also believe that small mundane finds like these can also be considered smoking guns if they are clear enough images. they don't have to be a spaceship to be considered good evidence. I am including a couple similar to what you have been finding recently for you to view. usually you have some of the most interesting finds of anyone!

Thank you to everyone who has stuck by the YouTube channel and to all of our admins and forum users here on the channel.   They really have kept the website current while I have been busy taking care of things in my personal life.   I promised that the next video would be a long one and have a LOT to look at.  You can get lost in these Gigapans and I really hope that you do!  I spent a lot of time stitching these together and making sure that they were the best quality that I could get them.  SOL 1448 really has been a goldmine for anomaly hunters and those people who are just hobbiest.  I really hope you enjoy this one and expect much more to come from the latest batches of images!
