I understand that the initial images we get are low res jpeg and later get hi-res.

What is the time table in when we get both versions from when the image is taken?

I'm wondering if we will get a better view of the statue head on SOL 1598. There is no way that this is a "rock".

hey Smitty welcome to the forum!

NASA releases "some" of the downloads on the mars.nasa.gov/msl/multimedia/raw/?s=#/?slide=1879 page when they are "downloaded" from the rover. The science teams get 6 months to use the data files .img and .lbl images along with all of the other information from the rover instruments. Since they made it, they get the first shot at getting into the science journals. SOL 1598 was just released with the last shot of them. I hope this link works.. an.rsl.wustl.edu/su/r7XFz35Bwn8 That is to the day on the Analysts Notebook. You can pull up the files on there under the "data products" and without even having to learn how to convert the science data they have .png files for each day that are better then on the other website. Check it out!
Hope to see you more on the boards!

Thank you to everyone who has stuck by the YouTube channel and to all of our admins and forum users here on the channel.   They really have kept the website current while I have been busy taking care of things in my personal life.   I promised that the next video would be a long one and have a LOT to look at.  You can get lost in these Gigapans and I really hope that you do!  I spent a lot of time stitching these together and making sure that they were the best quality that I could get them.  SOL 1448 really has been a goldmine for anomaly hunters and those people who are just hobbiest.  I really hope you enjoy this one and expect much more to come from the latest batches of images!
