Sol 1922 also had the MAHLI-Cam images with the ropy metallic blue samples integrated into the surface terrain, so there may be a related theme going on here.

Todd, did you make it a different color so it would stand out, or is it really that way?

And yes, it does look out of place and unnatural. I wonder what the fan-shaped piece is in the NE quadrant of the base. Perhaps at one time it was circular and went all the way around?

The S-shape piece (the upper part has that shape) appears to be a flat ribbon that's standing upright. At a couple of points it's above the rock surface and light is getting through.

I correct to remove the color created by the broadband filter wheel.

I thought it may be in service as a cam. (Not a camera) but a cam like on a cam shaft. It would be of significant hard metal like a pitman arm or even bicycle pedal shaft which may survive a destructive force as well as ages of erosion.

You see many open cam actions working on old steam engines and similar old industrial machinery.
All serving a similar purpose -- raise and lower an object in perfect cyclic timing.

Thank you to everyone who has stuck by the YouTube channel and to all of our admins and forum users here on the channel.   They really have kept the website current while I have been busy taking care of things in my personal life.   I promised that the next video would be a long one and have a LOT to look at.  You can get lost in these Gigapans and I really hope that you do!  I spent a lot of time stitching these together and making sure that they were the best quality that I could get them.  SOL 1448 really has been a goldmine for anomaly hunters and those people who are just hobbiest.  I really hope you enjoy this one and expect much more to come from the latest batches of images!
