I seem to remember that some chemical analyses has been done of the mineral veins, but I can't remember the results. I think it's on an earlier post on this forum, possibly one of the links that Quasar posts (so it's official or semi-official information).

Hopefully the gritters are already on the job.

There are a few interesting things in your gigapan ... like the large slab (the most prominent object in the gigapan) that's jammed down into the sand, about a third of the way from the right side, in the middle. Just a rectangular rock slab I suppose. Maybe some of the more creative minds can guess what it might be.

The black sand is interesting in colour.
It appears to me to be the same or similar colour that you see in the sand on the sides of cliffs.
Which may pose the question if it has not already -- is it water seepage or simply lighter black sand trailing it's way slowly down the face of some lighter coloured sand ?

Thank you to everyone who has stuck by the YouTube channel and to all of our admins and forum users here on the channel.   They really have kept the website current while I have been busy taking care of things in my personal life.   I promised that the next video would be a long one and have a LOT to look at.  You can get lost in these Gigapans and I really hope that you do!  I spent a lot of time stitching these together and making sure that they were the best quality that I could get them.  SOL 1448 really has been a goldmine for anomaly hunters and those people who are just hobbiest.  I really hope you enjoy this one and expect much more to come from the latest batches of images!
